I guess the rise of Mike Hackabee shows how far evangelicalism has slid in America, as he is the evangelical candidate. He's the Southern Baptist that believes his job as a ruler is mercy (instead of justice) toward criminals and invaders from south of the border, as well as nanny-statism.
