Illegal Immigration, Amnesty and Terrorism: The Perfect Storm

On the front page of my newspaper this morning to read that a Los Angeles terrorism panel concluded that, in light of Al Qaeda's recent announcement that Melbourne and Los Angeles are their next targets, Los Angeles is a target for terrorism.  More pointedly, the panel announced that Los Angeles was completely unprepared for an attack and would not be ready for years.

The thing about these various 'panels' our government lackies assemble is that they accomplish nothing.  Basically, a bunch of people get together, exchange business cards, and tell one another how to apply for government research grants to study the problem.  Los Angeles had an international gang panel last month to kick off it's war on gangs, and it was pretty much the same story: a lot of talk, no follow through.  Onto the article:

The United States is just as vulnerable to attack as it was on 9-11, particularly now that street gangs are draining resources from law enforcement agencies working to head off future attacks, a panel of terrorism experts said Monday. (oh really?  How?  Could it be because we have wide open borders and police aren't allowed to ask about immigration status?)

Speaking at a forum at UCLA, officials said the war on terrorism has been replaced by the war on gangs - a huge concern in Los Angeles, which has an estimated 40,000 gang members and is an attractive target for terrorists.

"We are not safe, and we will not be safe for many years," (Especially because all you do is appoint panels to study the problem) Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Mark Leap said at the forum sponsored by the university's School of Public Affairs.

"There are many, many more people who consider themselves jihadists now. And criminal enterprises are being used to support terrorist activities."

Officials said the links between organized crime and terrorism are particularly troubling in light of a message posted on an al-Qaida Web site saying the group wants to kill 4 million Americans in retribution for the number of Muslims killed by the U.S. in recent years.

"Al-Qaida recently announced on their Web site that they have two main targets: Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia," said Michael Intriligator, a terrorism expert and UCLA professor who moderated the forum.

"I don't know why they picked Melbourne, but Los Angeles was specifically mentioned as a target for their next terrorist attack."

Intriligator said Los Angeles has a number of potential targets, including Los Angeles International Airport, its downtown skyscrapers and the nation's largest port complex. He is especially concerned about the potential for an attack using a black-market nuclear device. (Great.  I live within a nuclear blast radius of all 3.)

"I think we are not at all prepared for this and we are living in what psychologists call a state of denial," Intriligator said. "It's such a horrendous thing to think about. We think it happened way back in 2001 and that it can't happen again."

Sheriff's Lt. John Sullivan, who helped found the county's Terrorism Early Warning Group that has since been emulated by 26 cities nationwide, said organized crime groups in Los Angeles County are supporting international terrorists. (You mean the Mexican Mafia and MS-13?)

"Al-Qaida has stated their intent to obtain nuclear weapons," he said. "Whether they can do so is unknown. They have often in the past made good on their threats. So it's reasonable to believe that it's viable.

"As far as attacking Los Angeles, they have attempted to attack Los Angeles in the past. It's reasonable to believe they will again."

I believe Al Qaeda.  They're much better at keeping their promises than our government.  Now to the real kicker.  We're about to let 3-4 times as many of these terrorists into our country.  Not just Al Qaeda, (some of the 9/11 hijackers were amnestied in 1986), but also MS-13 and all of the other international Latino gangs.

The Senate last night voted for cloture, which means they voted to begin debate on a bill that isn't even in final form, that the Senators haven't even read.  That's right, they haven't read the bill and they're ready to begin debating it.  Instead of this bill being written in committee like everything else, it was written behind close doors by a Bush-Kennedy-McCain team who's now trying to railroad it through congress.  Oh, but don't worry, they're going to debate it at least a couple more weeks.  Really?  It took them about three times as long to approve the latest round of funding for the troops in Iraq, and this is far more important.  This will fundamentally decide whether or not we have rule of law in this country or not, as Congressman Brian Bilbray stated on the Al Rantel show last night.  Judging by the lawless state of Mexico right now, that's what we can expect here: the military in every city having regular shoot-outs with drug and human trafficking gangs that are more powerful than the local government.

On top of all this, Al Qaeda very likely has nuclear weapons or is close to having them.  Iran, who supports Al Qaeda, is not far behind.   Pakistan, Al Qaeda's home turf, has been advertising to recover lost nuclear material.  I'll leave you with this quote from ALLAHPUNDIT, who frequently worries about seeing a bright light and feeling a shockwave:

In other news tonight, the UK’s International Institute of Strategic Studies says not only can AQ Khan’s illicit nuclear trafficking network be reconstituted given the number of members who are still at large, and not only has organized crime penetrated the nuclear black market, but apparently the CIA knew about the Khan network for years — and didn’t pay them enough attention.

The Khan network, of course, is in Pakistan. Pleasant dreams. My wife and I are figuring out how to move out of LA, to leave it to the illegals and the isotopes. The isotopes will be there much longer.

And Habakkuk asks God why he isn't doing anything about the Chaldean terrorists that continue to pillage the nation. God tells him that he won't believe what He is doing even if God tells Habakkuk.

God eventually tells Habakkuk what He is doing. He is raising up the Chaldeans.

Hmm...

Henry,

That's what I'm afraid of. If you abort the future of your country, God is not pleased. Good point.

Tragedy and persecution have a funny way of sifting the chaff from the grain, and strengthening the faith of the grain in the process.

I believe that Islamofascist terrorism as well as our government abandoning enforcement of immigration law are sending some very clear messages.

I'm sure you all have a list of other "messages" being sent. Probably a lot more serious messages that the two I just mentioned.

Why isn't anyone listening?

"Tragedy and persecution have a funny way of sifting the chaff from the grain, and strengthening the faith of the grain in the process."

Good comment. Some of us are listening and the very clear message I am receiving is have no faith in any government that is of this world. Only His kingdom, though invisible and not a democracy, will last!

Hail to the King!

Man arrested in alleged attempt to bomb Dallas skyscraper

08:31 PM CDT on Thursday, September 24, 2009

Staff reports

Federal authorities arrested a 19-year-old Jordanian citizen whom they said placed an inactive car bomb today at Fountain Place, a 60-story skyscraper in downtown Dallas.

DMN File

Fountain Place at 1445 Ross Avenue Hosam Maher Husein Smadi has repeatedly voiced his intent to serve Osama bin Laden and al-Qa’ida and commit “violent Jihad,” authorities said in a prepared statement.

Today’s arrest of Hosam Maher Husein Smadi underscores the FBI’s unwavering commitment to bring to justice persons who attempt to bring harm to citizens of this country and significant danger to this community,” special FBI agent in charge Robert E. Casey, Jr. said in the statement. “Smadi made a decision to act to commit a significant conspicuous act of violence under his banner of ‘self Jihad.’”

Authorities said that Smadi was under continuous FBI surveillance. Federal agents posed as members of an al-Qa’ida sleeper cell. Smadi, who was in the U.S. illegally, allegedly told them that he came to the country specifically to commit “Jihad for the sake of God.”

According to authorities, Smadi identified potential Dallas targets in June and allegedly scoped out Fountain Place in July. Authorities said that Smadi lived and worked in Italy, about 45 miles south of Dallas.

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert said city officials were notified of the impending arrest beforehand.

“We were clearly communicated to that there was not going to be a danger to anybody,” Leppert said. “There’s a good working relationship between the police and the FBI. This is an example of that.”

Leppert mentioned that there was another terrorism arrest in Springfield today.

Regarding the arrests in Dallas, Denver, New York City and Springfield, he said, “It’s a comment on the world we live in. All of us need to be vigilant.”

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, an undercover FBI agent first came across Smadi in an online group of extremists. Smadi stood out to authorities because of an alleged “vehement intention to actually conduct terror attacks in the United States.”

Undercover agents communicated with Smadi more than 60 times, according to the affidavit. All conversations were in Arabic, which the affidavit says is Smadi’s native language.

Suspect lived in Ellis County “In the name of God, the Gracious and the Merciful, this is my vow to you, my brother, that I am ready,” Smadi allegedly told undercover FBI agents. “And if you were a lover of Jihad as I am, then, by God, I am ready for the Jihadi life.”

The affidavit says that Smadi repeatedly voiced an intent to attack those whom he deemed to be Islamic enemies, including Christians and Jews.

“We shall attack them in their very own homes,” Smadi said, according to the affidavit. “Brother, by God, we shall attack them in a manner that hurts, an attack that shakes the world.”

The affidavit also says that undercover agents attempted to persuade Smadi that the Jihad obligations of a Muslim can be satisfied in different ways. Smadi allegedly responded each time that he planned to commit “significant, conspicuous violence.”

“I want to destroy… targets… everything that helps America on its war on Arabs will be targeted,” Smadi allegedly told undercover agents.

FBI agents say in the affidavit that Smadi indicated a desire to attack buildings housing credit card companies in a “strike to the economy.” The agents also said that Smadi considered attacking military recruitment centers, including a National Guard Armory in Dallas. And he also mentioned bombing a Dallas airport and financial institution within 10 to 15 minutes of each other, the affidavit says.

Smadi allegedly later ruled out attacking the airport because security was too tight and instead decided to focus on a large financial institution.

“It will shake the currently weak economy in the State and the Amercian nation because this bank is one of the largest banks in this city,” he allegedly said speaking of Wells Fargo in Dallas.

News of this Dallas skyscraper bombing attempt by an illegal alien will probably cause President Obama, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John McCain, and other RINOs along with the Democrat Socialist Party to post-pone the next amnesty by a few...........weeks.

The reality is that these events will get swept under the rug while Maureen Dowd, Max Blumenthal, and the $PLC will keep worrying about the Christian theocrats. There have been at least 5 events like this in the past 2 weeks.

I used to think "bad things happen when good people sit by and do nothing." The reality is that "bad things are about to happen, good people scream at the top of their lungs about it and get ignored/ridiculed, and then bad things happen anyway."

Winston Churchill, one of the world's best historians, was screaming at the top of his lungs about Hitler and was marginalized until Chamberlain nearly piddled Britain away into defeat. Meanwhile, the Jews followed Hitler's gun control laws to a 'T.' Many even helped Hitler in his final solution, choosing cowardice as a survival strategy rather than self-defense. How'd that work out?

All the same things are true today. We've got Robert Spencer, Geert Wilders, Nick Griffin, and Fillip DeWinter trying to do something about the problem of Islam, and polls in this country continue to show that people in the United States are believing ever more that Islam is a "peaceful religion" 8 years after 9/11.

Sometimes, you've gotta just realize which way the wind is blowing and look out for yourself, I guess. I used to tell people about Islam and they'd invariably think it was some big joke. Even the ADL keeps looking for antisemitism in places like the US and Europe (see here, for example), but is unwilling to name the perpetrators who are obviously Muslim.

How do you convince lemmings not to be lemmings? You can't.

Yep.

Meanwhile, the average American is discussing Lohan or Paris Hilton or Perez Hilton while Troy lets in another enemy horse in its gates, albeit, 2009 style.
