Well, the 241 toll road extension football has been kicked again. The Department of Commerce is ruling against it for now. The battle will continue.
If you support the 241 extension through that state park, you are Satan. Far be it for me to make common cause with enviro-hippies, but if you've ever been down there, the place is beautiful and deserves preservation. It's also on an Indian burial ground. How would you like the graves of your ancestors desecrated? Didn't think so.
Wildcoast director Serge Dedina observes,"It is an outrage that the TCA claims that placing a private toll road in a state park is a matter of national security. That is an insult to the members of the military who are really involved in issues of national security."
Yeah - it's an insult. More than that, the park is at the north end of Camp Pendleton, where a lot of marines like to surf when they're off duty. This will only harm national security because it will give enlisted marines one less outlet for their aggression and one less place to unwind, leading to very bad things.
Do the right thing, Secretary of Commerce. Don't be Satan.
