Were I an honest member of the Mexican military, I would be wondering who wasn't and who was going to give the druggies sitrep.
How will the military defeat the drug lords who bought all those hand grenades, rocket launchers etc. at US gun shows? /sarc

I’ve been to my share of gun shows and have yet to see hand grenades, rocket launchers and of course, "etc." sold at them.

How many rounds of the magazine in an etc hold??/sarc

There are law-abiding Mexican citizens even though they live and work in a very corrupt country. However, Mexican nationals don't look at police serive or law-enforcement the say way we Gringos do, so it is often hard for us to understand their motives and reactions.

When they do the right think we should applaud them, because it is very seldom here lately where the good people of Mexico get to do something good for themselves.

I suppose it is irrelevan to this reporter that it is illegal for people to sell those types of weapons at U.S. gun shows. And if someone really did that the ATF would have them in jail so fast they wouldn't know what happened. But a good reporter now-a-days wouldn't let a few small facts like this get in the way of his editor approving his story for publication.

The Mexican army is the most respected institution in Mexico by the Mexicans. I support them in their purge.

Of course. No gun store owner I know would try to make a shady deal like that. Most of them are paranoid of the ATF, which is why they're always so crotchety and up-tight. Holder knows this too, which is why I stand behind the opinion that his real motivation is to disarm whites. He knows he's not disarming blacks because a large percentage of them don't respect the law anyway, evidenced by the fact that blacks make up 50% of the US prison population, but 12% of the national population.

I believe you are right on point with this, Walt.

As far as the Mexican Army, it's probably the only thing standing between Mexico being a democracy (however corrupt it may be) and becoming another South American socialist dictatorship.

Funny parallel, or maybe not so funny, is that the singular U.S. government agency that consistently holds the highest level of respect and regard by foreigners and foreign government is our own military. And by no means ironic, our volunteer military is one of three very important U.S. institutions keeping us from becomine just another socialist dictatorship. First being our military, second being our legal system comprised of our Jurry system, and third being our right to own weapons and defend ourselves.

We used to have a right to free-speach but we lost that the last few years. We're about to lose our right to self defense. If we lose our Jury system we're screwed, because following right up on that we can expect mandatory military service requirements. At that point we won't be a Democratic Republic anymore. At that point we'll be come more of a Marxist Oligarchy.

Once this all happens State rights will mean nothing in the face of our Federal socialist overlords. If you think I'm going wacky just consider our government's mad rush to implement as many new Federal regulations as possible that dictate how States must decide issues. Scary.

To a large degree, democracy only works on good faith. We elect people in good faith believing that they won't lie to us and that they respect our institutions. Obama clearly believes the Constitution is a flawed document. He doesn't believe in the right to keep and bear arms, and one of the first things his administration has done is try to suppress those rights. Laughably, there were commenters on the article I linked about Holder's gun grab that couldn't believe Obama would actually try to do that and that the were never voting democrat again.

I support all of those states trying to re-assert states rights and I support their peaceable secession if they don't get what they want. There is a lot of talk about secession floating around teh interweb, and I think it's high time. By our government ignoring our Constitution, we (the people) are worse off than we would be under an ancient near eastern despot. Even despots allow self defense.

Does our government care about protecting our citizens?

Even CNN is sounding the alarm.......
